Mauricio Espinoza<\/p>\n

Es poeta, traductor e investigador. Es profesor de espa\u00f1ol y literatura latinoamericana en la Universidad de Cincinnati. Tiene un doctorado en literatura y cultura latinoamericana por la Universidad Estatal de Ohio. Ha publicado los poemarios Nada m\u00e1s que silencio (San Jos\u00e9, Costa Rica, 2000); Respiraci\u00f3n de piedras (San Jos\u00e9, Costa Rica, 2016), ganador del Concurso de Poes\u00eda 2015 de la Editorial de la Universidad de Costa Rica; y Pez de fieltro (Colecci\u00f3n Playa Sucia, Puerto Rico, 2023). Su poes\u00eda tambi\u00e9n aparece en The Wandering Song: Central American Writing in the United States (T\u00eda Chucha Press, 2017) y en revistas como barzakh y Rio Grande Review. Es co-traductor de la obra de la poeta costarricense Eunice Odio, cuyas publicaciones incluyen la antolog\u00eda biling\u00fce Territory of Dawn: The Selected Poems of Eunice Odio (Bitter Oleander Press, 2016) y The Fire\u2019s Journey (Tavern Books, 2013-19).<\/p>\n

He is a poet, translator, and researcher. He is assistant professor of Spanish and Latin American Literature at the University of Cincinnati. He holds a Ph.D. in Latin American Literatures and Cultures from The Ohio State University. He has published the poetry books Nada m\u00e1s que silencio (San Jos\u00e9, Costa Rica, 2000); Respiraci\u00f3n de piedras (San Jos\u00e9, Costa Rica, 2016), which won the 2015 University of Costa Rica Press Poetry Prize; and Pez de fieltro (Colecci\u00f3n Playa Sucia, Puerto Rico, 2023). His poetry also appears in The Wandering Song: Central American Writing in the United States (T\u00eda Chucha Press, 2017) and in journals such as barzakh and Rio Grande Review. He has co-translated the work of Costa Rican poet Eunice Odio into English, including the bilingual anthology Territory of Dawn: The Selected Poems of Eunice Odio (Bitter Oleander Press, 2016) and The Fire\u2019s Journey (Tavern Books, 2013-19).<\/p>\n

Poeta, editor y acad\u00e9mico. Libros suyos han aparecido en Ecuador, Per\u00fa, Bolivia, Argentina y Paraguay. Su libro Acta de Fundaci\u00f3n recibi\u00f3 el Segundo Premio Internacional de Poes\u00eda Pedro Lastra en 2020. Dirigi\u00f3 la editorial Matapalo Cartonera, en Ecuador, y editorial To\u00e9, en Per\u00fa, pa\u00eds en el que, adem\u00e1s, trabaj\u00f3 como periodista y como profesor en el Departamento de Antropolog\u00eda de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. Actualmente reside en los Estados Unidos, donde cursa el doctorado en literatura y cultura latinoamericana en la Universidad Estatal de Ohio, despu\u00e9s de haber completado una maestr\u00eda en literatura latinoamericana en la Universidad de Cincinnati.<\/p>\n

Como parte de este feno\u0301meno, se esta\u0301 dando un boom literario en lengua espan\u0303ola; y no solo en ciudades con numerosa e histo\u0301rica presencia de hispanohablantes como Miami, Nueva York o Los A\u0301ngeles. Tambie\u0301n en estados del centro del pai\u0301s como Ohio, las recientes olas migratorias han generado nuevos paisajes culturales. The use of Spanish is growing more and more every day in the United States. As part of this phenomenon, there is a Spanish-language literary boom taking place; and not only in cities with a large and historic presence of Spanish speakers such as Miami, New York or Los Angeles. In Midwestern states like Ohio, recent migration waves have also generated new cultural landscapes. This bilingual anthology (the first of its kind) is a living testimony of this transformation. Here we compile the poetic work of 16 authors who write in Spanish in Ohio, with roots in 11 countries and representing different generations and styles. May these words serve as an invitation to discover the literary diversity of a state whose motto is \u201cthe heart of it all\u201d\u2014and which beats with the power of poetry.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
